THE FUTURE IS DRY
in memory of water
THE FUTURE IS DRY is a film- and site specific dance concept created and directed by Runa Marie Dubrow.
It addresses the alarming prediction that, by 2050, a third of the global population will face extreme water scarcity—a reality that many people are already experiencing.
It is a visual dance installation project aimed at raising awareness of water scarcity and environmental issues.
The project explores questions such as:
-
What happens when water becomes scarce?
-
Are new wars emerging over this precious resource?
-
Is potable water finite?
-
What are the effects of water scarcity on living beings?
-
Will Earth run dry?
These questions are examined on both scientific and artistic levels. In-depth research informs the movements, sounds, and video materials used in the dance space.

The film was created as part of the residency RAMA - residencias artisticas in Maceira, Portugal.
